To My Mom

My mom in Battle Creek, MI

My mom pregnant with me; bottom right

I think back on our time together. The only times things were okay were during ice skating lessons, when I played softball, & when we watched Soul Train.

You probably shouldn't have gotten married or had kids. But you did. Given what was done to you as a child, it's a wonder you're even alive.

Everyday I wish I would've given you a big hug and told you I'm sorry for what Grandma did to you. She destroyed you before age 5 therefore leaving you to live your adult life in a confused, broken fashion.

You didn't deserve what she did to you. You basically didn't have a fighting chance as an adult, wife, or parent.

I loathe regrets, they suck.

Love,

Patti

P.S. Thanks for raising me on Black music & creating a non-racist home. For this I am blessed. Everytime I listen to whatever I want I think of you ❤️👩🙌
